As per the media reports, a sum of 109-million dollars would be paid by Finance Ministry compensation to Solomon Telekom as compensation instead of the earlier announced 84-million dollars.

The Prime Minister's Office annouced that the result of recent calculations on losses the telecommunications company will acquire on fixed line networks outside of Honiara will be compensated by the ministry,

Recently the Settlement Scheme was signed by Our Telekom and the national government, for which the calculations are provided.

The new settlement amount makes sense for the Economic Reform unit.

"Our Telekom Company has the option to shut down fixed lines outside of Honiara once competition is introduced in the market," said the Unit.

On the other hand, the national government has said yes to fund the fixed-line losses that Our Telekom expects to incur over the next five years.

The sum of the total losses is more than 20-million dollars.
